Waterman Fuel Pump Rebuild Issues

Recently had a Waterman 400m Sprint Pump flowed (at great expense here is Australia) and found it was no longer in specs. I have since bought and installed a new set of gears and spacers and now the pump is all but locked up and takes considerable amount of effort to turn with a wrench. Is this normal for a new or rebuilt pump?

I am concerned that damaged may be done if I install it like it is back on my engine??

Any knowledge or experience with similar issues would be greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't turn that hard! Definitely not right!

You must lap the back side of the thrust plates to get a proper fit. Yes you will lap the coating off. You need a micrometer to measure how much you remove. You take no more than .0002 (that's 2 tenths) at a time. Then recheck when proper you will feel a slight drag.

Thanks JD. Sounds like a tedious task but not a difficult one.

Thank you.
