FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HEEEEEEE’S BAAAAAACK! TONY JONES ENDS BRIEF RETIREMENT TONIGHT!

(MARCH 28, 2009, PERRIS, CA) In a retirement that was almost as short as Mike Tyson’s 1988 91 second knockout of Michael Spinks, Tony Jones announced on Saturday morning that he will return to the seat of Mark Alexander’s silver #4 Sprint Car at tonight’s (March 28) USAC/CRA Sprint Car race at Perris Auto Speedway.

The story started gaining momentum early in the week, but died and was revived several times. Friday night it looked like Jones would be back, but early Saturday morning the deal was done again. After a series of early morning phone calls, the 2000 Oval Nationals and 2007 USAC/CRA champion confirmed around 10:00 AM that he was indeed back.

“I talked it over with my family (wife and three children) and we all wanted to come back,” Jones said. “My dad (Hall of Famer Bubby Jones) will be excited, too.”

Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM this afternoon with the first race at 6:00.

Between 4:00 and 5:00 PM, all fans can purchase two for the price of one food items. This offer does not include drinks or value menu items.

Advance tickets for this Saturday are available 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-595-4849. They can also be ordered on the Internet at tix.com or perrisautospeedway.com.

For more information call The PAS at: (951) 940-0134.

Video and DVD productions of all USAC/CRA races at The PAS dating back to 2004 and including the last five Budweiser Oval Nationals are available from Jeff Kristensen’s Raceway Video. For more information on these productions you can call: (818) 618-9764 or visit the web site at: racewayvideo.com.

Perris Auto Speedway is on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit on the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.

So Cardey's out of a ride or did he wind up in something else?

Cardey and the Alexander's parted company soon after the last race four weeks ago, but it was a quiet deal. He will be back in the #38 car tonight.

Actually he was not doing to bad Duke. Tony started 11th in the main and was coming through the field. Car went up in smoke as he was battling for fourth.

Neat night for Rip Williams as he and his two oldest sons all made the main event! Oldest son Cody won his heat race with Rip second. And, youngest son Logan made his PAS debut driving a Jr. Focus MIdget owned by Wally Pankratz.
