BOSS Prepares for Hoosier State Double

One of the most highly anticipated weekends of the year is upon us for the Rick's Trucks and Equipment BOSS sprint car tour. Friday night, the last true outlaws of the dirt tracks will make a return to Route 44 Speedway in Liberty, Indiana. The series last competed there in 2014 when Logan Hupp defeated Kevin Thomas Jr. in an epic slide job duel through traffic. On Saturday, the series will move on to the much anticipated Jason Soudrette Memorial event at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Fresh off his 3rd career BOSS win and second of the season, Justin Owen of Harrison, Ohio has taken over the points lead. Dustin Smith of Russiaville, Indiana had a rough night at the last event and fell to second in the standings after leading most of the year. Michael Fischesser, Chad Wilson and Steve Little round out the top 5 in the current driver standings.

Both events are expected to draw large fields of cars. The BOSS event at Route 44 Speedway in 2014 drew 35 entries. The track was then known as Whitewater Valley Speedway. This May, BOSS had 41 cars in the pit area at Lawrenceburg Speedway when after the fifth heat race, mother nature decided to end the evening early. Officials anticipate similar fields at this weekend's events.

Saturday night's race at Lawrenceburg will be in honor of one of the first ever BOSS drivers who was also a regular competitor at Lawrenceburg. Jason Soudrette was in the very first BOSS event at Atomic Speedway in Ohio back in 2011. He ran various other events with the tour as he battled leukemia. Sadly, Jason passed away from complications but his father has kept the JSR #44 in competition and the car will once again be in the field this Saturday night.

At Route 44 Speedway on Friday night, pit gates will be open all day for teams traveling to the event. Hot laps will begin at 7 with racing promptly at 8 pm. Adult general admission is $15 with seniors and students admitted for $13. Kids ages 8-13 are just $8 while 7 and under is free of charge. All pit passes are $30. For team competing, there will be fuel available at the track and NO mufflers are required for this event. Pill draw will close at 6:45.

On Saturday at Lawrenceburg, again, the pit area will be open all day for the convenience of the teams. The pit area will be cleared at 3:45 and official pit gate opens at 4 pm. General admission gates open at 5 with hot laps at 6 and racing at 7 pm. Adult general admission is $17 with kids ages 7-12 just $7 while children 6 and under are free. All Pit passes are $30. For teams competing, there will be fuel at the track and mufflers ARE REQUIRED for this event. Pill draw will close at 5:45.

Both of this weekend's events are the standard BOSS purse of $1,500 to win with $250 to start the A-Main and $100 tow money to any team not starting the main event. For any further questions, please contact BOSS at sprinter14@hotmail.com or phone 740-703-3768.

The official host hotel for the weekend is the Riverside Inn in Lawrenceburg conveniently located close to the track. Rooms are available for the teams and fans for $65 per night by asking for the "BOSS Racers Discount". Please call 812-537-4441 to make a reservation.
