Unfortunately there isn't. That's why everyone gets tired of spending money after you race for many years. Unfortunately, purses have not increased near enough to offset the rising costs over the last 30 years! I understand race tracks need to make money and have rising costs to operate too! It's a double edged sword!

Schatz says wings are a crutch, no ****. Hats off to him that he had the gonads to state what the rest of the winged guys know but would never say out loud. Non wing cars bring out the best, always have always will.
As far as sprint racing being a working mans class it might be at a few bullrings but usac and any winged racing isn't. With the event of wings I personally watched sprintcars in the N.E. evolve to be a rich mans sport. Before the wings around here sprintcar racing was a every mans sport. The same happened to our modified racing, once the factory cars with the aero wedge bodies came out it was game over for us little guys. We used to run what was pretty much a junk yard engine in the nonwing car and besides crash damage most components would last more then one season. Once wings took over our inexpensive engines were weak and turned into hand granades once they were run wide open with a wing load also we had way more stress breakage on various parts. We went from running a car and having fun to being pushed out of racing in a season or so due to costs. We also found no fun standing on the throttle and trying not to get sideways. I just dont get it, suppossedy its a good time. |
