For those worried about the track, we are very happy with where things are. The track got some much needed moisture and we are expecting blistering fast track for practice and a real shot at breaking the USAC Racing Silver Crown track record in ProSource Qualifications tomorrow morning during the 57th Bettenhausen 100.

IT IS 57TH ANNUAL BETTENHAUSEN 100 RACE DAY AT THE Illinois State Fair!

One of the largest fields of USAC Racing Silver Crown Champ Car Series presented by
Traxxas cars is expected as over 40 pre-entries have been filed for the event with many past winners entered in the field. Heavy rains Thursday night plus some Friday showers have the Springfield Mile locked and loaded for a shot at breaking the Silver Crown track record in qualifications for the 57th edition of The Bettenhausen 100. What does this chapter in the history books have in store? Do we add a new winner to the prestigious list of some of the best racers ever to pursue their craft? Does a wiley veteran who has found victory lane at Springfield find their way there again? You have to be here to find out as the Big Cars roar around the Springfield Mile!

Also on tap is the heat races for the 25th Annual Illinois Sportsman Nationals for the DIRTcar UMP Sportsman. Jeremy Nichols seeks a 6th consecutive win in the event while 2 other 5 time winners in Wes O'Dell and Dennis Vandermeersch seek to win their sixth and stop the streak along with a host of others as there are over 20 pre-entered drivers.

The 2018 Bettenhausen Memorial exceeded expectations. In fact it was a great race! If ya didn’t like that race then ya didn’t want to be there in the first place!

The crowd was a bit better than last year but still woefully small considering the quality of the field and the racing itself. It’s 2 weeks until DuQuoin and and hopefully the word will get around how great the Bettenhausen was and it’ll inspire some to attend the Horn Memorial.

Thanks to Sarge and his people for another great Silver Crown event at Springfield!! Sad its over but excited about Du Quoin!!

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

Great race yesterday, it was great see some locals run well. Joey Moughan with a top ten, and Korey Wyent what a run in the B Main running the cushion been a while since we have seen that. Also congrats to Korey on a win at Spoon River sat. night.

Korey Weyant was worth the price of admission. No one has run the cushion like that at Springfield in a long, long time! That was a thing of beauty in anybody’s eyes!

What a race indeed. Felt so bad for Korey Wyant but man did he put on a show. There’s nothing better than watching the big cars on the big track. Long stretch of green flag laps provided some exciting racing. Oh, and the ribbon fries were awesome.

Looking forward to DuQuoin in a few weeks.
