2ND ELDORA DATE ADDED TO 2021 USAC SILVER CROWN SCHEDULE

By: Richie Murray – USAC Media

Rossburg, Ohio (December 9, 2020)………Eldora Speedway has been added to the 2021 USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series schedule for Saturday, June 26, the first of two dates for the series at the half-mile dirt oval in the coming year.

Originally listed as “TBA” during the schedule unveiling on Dec. 8, the new June event marks just the third time that multiple USAC Silver Crown events have been held at Eldora in a single season, and the first time since 1982, which was won by Danny Smith in his first career USAC Silver Crown start.

Eldora is also scheduled to host its second USAC Silver Crown event of 2021 during 4-Crown Nationals weekend on September 24-25.

The weekend of the June Eldora event will be stacked, and action packed, with the USAC Silver Crown competing on both the pavement and the dirt on consecutive nights.* On Friday, June 25, the series will be contested on the pavement at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wis.* Teams and drivers will then make the trek for the following night’s Crown race at Eldora.

Jack Hewitt stands head and shoulders above all drivers with eight career Eldora USAC Silver Crown victories, double that of his nearest competition.* Dave Darland owns four wins at the “Big E” while Steve Kinser, Bryan Clauson, Chris Windom, J.J. Yeley, Jerry Coons Jr., Larry Rice, Ron Shuman and Steve Butler each have two.

Meanwhile, Danny Smith, Brian Tyler, C.J. Leary, Christopher Bell, Jimmy Sills, Ken Schrader, Kevin Huntley, Kyle Larson, Mat Neely, Tyler Courtney and Brady Bacon have each triumphed once in the Dirt Champ Cars at Eldora.* Bacon won the most recent event there with the series in 2019.

Eldora fills out the remainder of the Silver Crown schedule, which includes seven on the dirt and five on the pavement at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway on May 9; the Indiana State Fairgrounds on May 27; Indiana’s Lucas Oil Raceway on May 28 & Aug. 14; Pennsylvania’s Williams Grove Speedway on June 18; Madison (Wis.) International Speedway on June 25; Ohio’s Eldora Speedway on June 26 & Sept. 24-25; Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway on Aug. 8; Illinois State Fairgrounds on Aug. 21; Du Quoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds on Sept. 4; and Toledo (Ohio) Speedway on Oct. 10.

With the 7 -8 hr drive between the two tracks and the swap of all pavement equipment, tires, and car for dirt equipment, tires, and cars, this will be a marathon for the teams. I imagine a few fans will attempt this also.

that's the first thing I thought of. Was thinking the TBA might be somewhere a bit closer. You lose an hour in the time change also.

Amen, the two tracks are over 6-1/2 hours apart Not pulling a Trailer. Definitely over 7 hours pulling a Rig, if you don't get hung up anywhere in Construction, etc. The World of Outlaws farthest tow in a back to back, is Eldora to Lernerville, which is 5 hrs.& 18 mins. Call it 6 hours pulling a Trailer, but Eldora & Lernerville are in the same time zone & WoO guys are used to that. 😉

I'm guessing the June 26 Silver Crown race at Eldora, will part Stewarts/Everham’s new SRX racing series visiting Eldora weekend.

I agree! I think it was a dumb decision, especially with ZERO races in July.

I would strongly suggest that anyone attempting to make the trip from Madison to western Ohio not go through chitcago as the mapping suggests. First and foremost you may have to dodge bullets on your way through and traffic will be horrendous. The only way it will save time to go through chitcago is if you got through between the hours of 1 AM and 4 AM. Traffic is beyond description!

Wouldn't the Milwaukee Mile had made more sense for so many reasons???

I live near Madison and nearly every trip to Eldora is a painful drive. The mapping might say 6.5 hrs. but that's not going to happen. Chicago tolls and traffic always get you. The rigs will likely leave after the race and go through at that middle of the night time frame you mention. that's the time go though putting them in western Ohio early morning. Going through overnight I run 94 through downtown down to 80. It saves some tolls and stops and flows well. Keep your speed up and be alert though or the locals will run you off. I find it a little fun sometimes.

A four crown trip for me always seems like a sun up to sun down drive. Milwaukee would of been nice. There is also a big half mile an hour up the road at the Dodge county Fairgrounds in beaver dam. I always thought it would be a good track for them.

I doubt many teams have room in hauler for the dirt and pavement cars. Then there are the mounted tires. I'm guessing most will have to do a quick turn around at the race shop. That Saturday will be a long one.
