BOSS Makes Inaugural Visit to the Bluegrass State May 26-27

Mother nature has scored wins in 2 of the first 3 events now for the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series. This weekend, the tour will make history with a doubleheader weekend at Richmond Raceway in Kentucky. This will mark the first time the series has visited the Bluegrass state and will be the first ever traditional wingless sprint car events in the track's storied 52 year history.

The USAC sprint cars ran at Richmond in 1988 but it was a winged show and Memphis, Tennessee's Mike Ward defeated Kenny Jacobs and Steve Butler to secure the win. In 1990, the winged USAC sprint cars returned and Jack Hewitt claimed the win over Rick Hood and Tony Elliott. A trio of USAC midget events were held here from 1991 to 1996 won by Mike Streicher, Dan Drinan and Tony Elliott.

One year ago, the track's future was uncertain. In stepped the new owner and promoter, Bill Lupinos, a native of New York. Lupinos and his staff have been hard at work returning Richmond Raceway to glory and BOSS is proud to bring sprint cars back to the bad little Kentucky bullring.

On Saturday, pit gates will open at 2 pm with grandstands opening at 4 pm. Hot laps will begin at 6 with racing at 7. Adult general admission is $20 while kids age 6-12 is $15. Pit Passes are $35 for all ages. This will be a complete show for BOSS non wing sprints, and the track's regular divisions for modifieds, super stocks and 4 cylinders.

On Sunday, both gates will open at 11 am with hot laps at 1 pm. It will again be a complete show for BOSS sprints with an abbreviated program for the other 3 classes. Gate prices will remain the same and racing must end by 6 pm due to a city ordinance on Sunday racing.

For teams competing, as always there are no fees of any kind to run with BOSS. These events will pay the standard BOSS purse for both programs. Lots of heat race and bonus awards up for grabs and are posted at the bottom of this press release.

TCB Speed will have their parts trailer fully stocked with methanol, tires and parts. The official host hotel for the weekend is the LaQuinta Inn in Richmond just off I-75 at the 421 bypass. Phone 859-623-9121 for a reservation. Be sure to ask for the BOSS Racer's Rate of $81 plus tax. Rig parking will be very limited. Teams are encouraged to leave trailers at the track. BOSS will be providing overnight security at the track. Both race teams and fans are encouraged to use the host hotel. Camping at the track is free of charge.

Just a reminder in case someone didn't read the Sunday times closely..............

Sunday's race is a DAYTIME event - hot laps at 1 pm - racing must be done by 6 pm

Richmond was not allowed to run Sunday races by city ordinance but the new track promoter petitioned the courts and was granted a one time Sunday show to see how it goes and the judge granted only those hours.

The 3 support classes will not run heat races on Sunday. BOSS will run a complete show each day.

Hope to see everyone there!

Both events will be broadcast on ISC Sports / ETC Sports Pay-Per-View

Any chance of a make up date at Lawrenceburg? I always look forward to your visits there.

Dave and I discussed some options. What few dates I had open they could not accommodate us. And they don’t want to race in October. Hopefully we can get our traditional 2 dates on the schedule there next year.

Our winged events for 2018 were posted on the front page but it has been pushed down from new articles being added. I will get the winged schedule added to the schedule page.

Here are the ones left for 2018:

Aug 18 - Montpelier Motor Speedway
Aug 31 - Gas City Speedway
Sep 1 - Route 44 Speedway
Sep 14 - Fremont Speedway
Sep 15 - Fremont Speedway

We may add a race or two as we go along and plan a full slate of events for 2019.

The non wing series will stay around 20 races like we have been for the last 5 years.
