Southern Illinois 100 ready to start on schedule at DuQuoin Mile Monday

by*John Supinie

DuQUOIN, Ill. — The cars have hit the track for practice prior to the ARCA Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. With the rain dissipating in Southern Illinois, the program is on schedule, and the track looks fabulous for a great day of racing.

The breeze in the grandstands makes it even more cmortable at the scenic DuQuoin Mile. NASCAR star Ken Schrader will go for two wins today. He is the defending champ of the Southern Illinois 100, and he starts on the front row of the Bill Oldani Memorial for UMP modifieds.

Qualifying for the Southern Illinois 100 is set for 11:15 a.m. with the modified feature at noon. The Southern Illinois 100 in the ARCA Racing Series takes the green flag at 1:30 p.m.

For more information, go online to trackenterprises.com or call 618-542-1515.

Thanks for the mod lineup. We were there last night, not able to be there today. Walsh and Schrader should be good in that mod feature. Any results would be appreciated

Unfortunately Shane will not complete the sweep at DuQuoin. Stalled entering pit road around lap 80. They've pushed the car behind the wall. Not sure of problem but may have been motor / transmission related.

Anybody know what the deal was with Walsh turning a guy on the front stretch before the flagstand on a restart. Looked like he was on a mission to turn the guy no matter what.

Don't know anything about Walsh or anyone else driving the modified's except Schrader but something didn't seem quite right with that deal.
