I'm glad we now have a date for the race. As each day went by, the chances of a May race were dwindling. Will USAC shake up a little bit of the schedule since "The Week of Indy" would not be the same taking place in May? At this point, let's hope for at least one dirt race in May!

IF anything, I wonder if the 500 crowd size would just be limited SOME...and then still run on May 24th...run the GP (maybe) and Q without crowds...wean them in on Carb day but skip the concert and all that stuff...

Ok I was wrong on my outlook. Sad day...

I already had a room for Anderson Sat night (woulda been my 1st trip in 15years...and 1st 500 in 19 years). Will have to decide now

NOW, I do think crowds will be there for both the IndyGP / NASCAR wknd (people will WANT to get out and go to the hollowed grounds for a race!) - and the 500 might get more interest, as being early in the season, it can pass some casual fans by, but now they can get all their summer stuff done and as people are (hopefully) getting ready to go back to school and all that, the 500 will be running to cap off the summer.

Looks like I stand corrected on all and I will now hope for Kokomo usac at the end of April. I was fortunate enough to see 4 races in Florida. Get the fishing boat out for a few weeks.

Could do the Indy 500, stay a couple days and then do the Kokomo Smackdown!

As I believed in Tony George's IRL vision back in the day, now I know how CART fans felt in 1996 when they thought they didn't get to enjoy the Indy 500 in the month of May...(I will remain optimistic short track racing - like the Little5 - gets to kick off by then tho...)

I just learned not to tell an airbnb host in Clearmont my reason for a 2 day stay for the 500. Denied and I don't see it offered now at all. Not all people are fans of the 500 I guess

They probably are going to jack the rates up, that would be my guess. Not sure if it’s any of their business the reason for your visit. I’d just say vacation.
