Happy Indiana Sprint Week to everyone.

Looking for some help from all the open wheel historians here on IOW.

USAC isn't a huge help on their own websites that I can find, figure someone on here might be of help.

Looking for USAC schedules and results from 80s and 90s.
Also looking for anything on the USAC experiment with wing racing in late 80s/early 90s.

Go to usacracing.com. Click on the History tab, then Series Winners. Race winners (through 2019) from the major national series are listed.

The first USAC winged sprint car race was held at Eldora Speedway Aprill 1987. Rick Ungar driving Tom Winmer’s 7TW car was the winner.
I was at that race and shot pictures of Ungar, Sheldon Kinser and Bobby Adkins competing at that event.

The winged years were promotor choice. I remember one year Eldora ran the spring race winged and the four crown Non Wing. Also saw winged races at Paragon, Attica and other places not usually on the USAC schedule. Also Bloomington Burg and others had gone wing for reg shows during this time. I didn't last long. two or three years. until the home tracks went back to mostly Non Wing, LPS never left.

There’s some info in the modern thunder book that pat sullivan Agrabright and Mahoney put out a few years back which is excellent by the way. I’d go look for you but my sister is currently reading through it.

Richie Murray from USAC is the best in the business with old stats, etc. A lot of it can be found right on this message board in previews, etc.

For instance, this lists EVERY Indiana Sprint Week feature winner since it began.

If I remember correctly there was an article in Open Wheel magazine entitled "USAC Takes Wing"... about this story
