Would everyone out there like to see a field of sprint cars like they looked in the 1950s or like they look like today.i have had many people tell me the sprint cars, midgets, and open wheel cars of today are ugly.what is the opinion of the readers.for those of you very young please find picture of car in 1950s.how many prefer to see the driver actually drive instead of todays cars where the driver is almost invisible.lets here some thoughts.mr.funk please start us out.

Most of my experience was in the sixties, seventies, and early eighties, so I would go with the look of the cars from that era.

Strictly from an appearance standpoint, I don't care for today's cars much.

I'd have to pick the cars of this era minus the wing.

As much as I love the look of the per-cage car, I don't think I'd have the stomach for the toll that was already paid during that era.

Love the cars of the 60 & 70s. Just think if you could somehow blend the technology and safety of the today's cars with the style of those cars.

Just when I was getting pretty used to the boxie look of sprints, midgets and champs today. Everyone goes with some freaked out wrap that most of em you can't read a damn thing on they're so convoluted.

Man, Just some classy paint and lettering, Is that too much to ask?

Late 70's 80's before the fuel tanks shrunk. Alot of pictures of cars taken today sliding through the turn look like they have no tail section.

Early '70s, the first generation of cars with integral roll cages. Stapp, Lefler, Edmunds and others built some beautiful cars in that era.
Sure, they looked better without the cage, but I don't think the aesthetics justify the dangers.

The mid 80's for me. Im sure my age at the time plays into it but i loved the sharper edged pre down tube wedge hoods and the fact that most teams were still rollling in on an open trailer. They looked just as vicious going down the highway as they did the front stretch. Like previously mentioned, they still had the bigger tail tank and were still being painted. Here's an old polaroid of my aunt and uncles from '85. Rickey Hood started the year in it.
