Recently Jerry and Darlene Burton were presented the trophy for the inaugural Josh Burton Memorial, the pictures were taken at the track from the presentation.

Below text is from the Bloomington Speedway's Facebook page, and is being shared with those that do not do the Facebook thing.

In three short weeks, May 23rd, 2014 is a Friday, a Friday night at Bloomington Speedway. But it will not be like any other regular Friday night at the track, this night is special, very special. Not just because it is the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend, which by itself in Indiana, is huge.

This year Friday May the 23rd, is very special because we are honoring Josh Burton, but we are also honoring the entire Burton Family on this night too. It was one year ago, when we as a racing family lost Josh Burton, in what can only be described as a freak racing accident.

Since the tragic accident one year ago, many of us have struggled with the sudden loss of one of Bloomington Speedway’s most popular young drivers. Jerry, Darlene, Jerica, Chris, and Peyton Burton also grandparents Judy and Frank Sherfield have shown amazing strength and grace over this past year. But we truly have no real understanding of what this family has endured over the last 11 months since the accident. However, each of them have been pillars of strength for the rest of us, even though the pain that for them at times, has been nearly unbearable.

This night at Bloomington Speedway is a tribute to Josh Burton, and also, to his entire family as well. I seriously can not imagine any true race fan, any member of our extended racing family, that will not want to be here for this event if it is at all possible. There will be many surprises in store, along with heartfelt tributes.

The race has an increased purse of $2000.00 to win, and there will even be some added bonuses on top of that (TBA), ALSO, the trophy for the Josh Burton Memorial Race, is nothing short of epic! The owners and management of the Bloomington Speedway, have really stepped up, they gone above and beyond for this one time Josh Burton Memorial trophy!

I know for a fact this trophy alone, would bring out that huge trademark smile that Josh was so well known for. In fact, as we reveal this trophy today, every driver of a sprint car in the entire midwest, will have his “sights” set on winning this incredible tribute trophy! An American made Henry Golden Boy rifle pictured below.

Please mark your racing calendars for this coming May 23rd, come out to the Bloomington Speedway for a night of fellowship with your friends, and also our entire racing family, lets show the Burton family that we have not forgotten Josh, and we never will.

Great trophy. I love their commercials and my wife even said what a great looking rifle, but we'll see what she says if I try to buy one. Hope to make it down to honor Josh and his family.
