Each feature paid $5,000 to win and $500 to start. The total feature payout each race was $21,450. Also, all cars that did not transfer from the semi-feature or qualifying race received $150. If there were 40 cars the total purse paid was $24,150.

There were also fast qualifier and hard charger awards each night.

I think the Sprint Week champion won $5,000 and the rocking chair.

I don't understand why sprint car races pay so little. Look at the purses for Lucas Oil late models. They run for a minimum of $10,000 to win each night and have a lot of big money shows. They normally pack the stands and charge $20 or $25 for general admission, but sprint week does the same thing so why is the purse so much lower?
Not trying to bash sprint car racing, just asking a question.

The first two words in the late model series you mentioned is why they pay so much.

Outlaws don't have corporate sponsorship and their races pay 10k to win and 50k purse for almost all their races.

Why would the series, or the sponsor, have anything to do with what the race pays? The track/event promoter decides what it pays, as with any other race, as long as they meet the minimum for the series.. I'm sure if they thought it would benefit them to pay more, they would.

I saw Ballou was paid $5,000 for winning it and I'm pretty sure the point fund is $10,000 total.

^Because title sponsors, such as Lucas Oil kick in massive amounts of money to raise the purse for each race ontop of what the track/series puts down for a certain race.

Example, if its a LOLMS race, the 1st place payout could be $10,000 and $5,000 of that was given by Lucas as series endorsement. (hypothetical amounts of money just being used as an example).
