I was there that day, (Oct. 14th). I believe this was a twin fifty lap feature program. Most memorable thing, unfortunately, was that I was involved in a serious accident north of Vincennes when a drunk turned in front of me. My father spent seventeen days in the hospital as a result and my mother had some minor injuries as well. I escaped basically unscathed. I believe we came out as well as we did because I had a very large car, a 1973 Olds Ninety-Eight, which was over nineteen feet long with lots of extra sheet metal in the front. The drunk had an old Lincoln, so it too was very heavy. My parents recovered and the Olds was repaired and I drove it until 1994, putting over 184,000 miles on it. Miss those Sunday afternoon USAC sprint car programs that they used to run in October. Those were the days!

Thanks for sharing Ron. Sorry to hear of you misfortune back then. Glad everyone made it through, even the Oldsmobile. Linda Ronstadt is right when she said on the Travis Smiley show, "Everyone has a story to tell."

Sunday afternoon races were the best. I miss them as well.
