BOSS Buckeye Showdown Set for WRP

One of the most anticipated events of the year in traditional sprint car racing will take center stage this Saturday, July 19th. The 4th annual "Dick Spencer Memorial" at Waynesfield Raceway Park will find the traveling stars of the Buckeye Machine BOSS tour facing off against the WRP regulars who will be ready to defend their home turf. A lot of bragging rights will be on the line as the buckeye state's only traveling tour meets the state's only weekly traditional sprint car track regulars.

A fierce points battle is heating up for the BOSS tour as Mike Miller of Wapakoneta, Ohio holds a slim lead over a hard charging Dustin Smith of Russiaville, Indiana. Smith, the 2012 tour champ, is fresh off a pair of runner-up finishes in Pennsylvania that found the "Hustlin Hoosier" jumping from 4th to 2nd in points, now trailing Miller by a mere 21 points.

Michael Fischesser of Sayler Park, Ohio dropped to 3rd in points and is madly in search of his first career tour victory. Brandon Spithaler of Evans City, Pennsylvania also closed the gap on the leaders, now sitting in 4th, after having scored the most recent BOSS victory leading wire to wire at America's Motorsports Park in Clearfield, Pennsylvania last weekend. Rounding out the top 5 in points is defending series champion Tony Beaber of Gibsonburg, Ohio who has had a tumultuous 2014 and is in search of a win to turn around the season.

Buckeye Machine of Forest, Ohio is the title sponsor of the BOSS series and the title sponsor of the Waynesfield Raceway Park sprint car division. This Saturday will be corporate night for the company that has done more for traditional sprint car racing in Ohio than any other in the modern era. Ray Marshall, owner of Buckeye Machine also fields 2 race cars under the Marshall Motorsports banner. The pilots of their cars have both found a lot of recent success with the tour. Derek Hastings who drives the #32M jumped from 10th to 6th in points during the Pennsylvania doubleheader and Logan Hupp who pilots the #2M scored his first tour win at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.

Rounding out the top 10 in BOSS points are Chuck Wilson of Perrysburg, Ohio who sits 7th. Aaron Middaugh of Polk, Ohio, is the only driver to attend every BOSS event from its inception in 2011, currently sits in 8th. Chad Wilson of Toledo, Ohio is fresh off his career best tour finish of 3rd and currently sits 9th in points. Adam Miller of McDonald, Pennsylvania rounds out the 10th spot. Like Beaber, Miller has had a tumultuous season with some great early race runs that did not end anywhere close to what he appeared to be headed for.

Other drivers who have been following the BOSS tour that fans can expect to see are Pennsylvania runners Bob McMillin and Joe Butera of Wampum. The legendary Johnny Beaber of Gibsonburg, Ohio will be piloting the familiar #3J. Joe Liguori of Tampa, Florida is racing out of Indianapolis for the summer and has become a full time runner as well and is a new threat at every stop along the tour!

Waynesfield Raceway Park will supply a great field of drivers ready to do battle as well. Kyle Simon leads the current track standings with Mike Dunlap, Cooper Clouse, Andy Conley and Dustin Ingle representing the top 5. Rounding out their top 10 are Luke Hall, Tyler Hewitt, Stratton Briggs, Jimmy Snead and Lee Underwood.

This Saturday, gates will open at 4 pm with hot laps at 6 pm and racing at 7 pm. Adult general admission (16 and up) is a bargain at $12 while kids age 11-15 are $6 and 10 and under are free. Pit passes are only $25. For more information on Waynesfield Raceway Park, please visit their site at www.waynesfieldmotorsportspark.com or visit the BOSS site at www.buckeyesprints.com

Charles, in all seriousness, is there anything we can do to help get you back on the road? You have a lot of friends on here. How can we help? Jeff

Also there is a nice raffle taking place tomorrow night to benefit one of our injured drivers Tim Calicoat. Tim was injured while racing at WRP and one of our Pushtruck drivers (Jamie Sizemore) is organizing this great fundraiser. There are tickets to the Nascar truck race at Eldora, tickets to Cedar Point and a ride in the Pushtruck for the entire a main.
