USAC SPRINT CAR OWNER CHRISMAN PASSES AWAY

Steve Chrisman, whose cars won a total of eight USAC National Sprint Car features between 1992 and 1998, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018, at the age of 58.

Chrisman, of Edinburgh, Indiana, was a regular on the tour, fielding the familiar No. 25 on the dirt and pavement.* The self-employed farmer was the owner of the car Tony Stewart used to score his first career USAC National Sprint Car win in 1992 at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri.* Chrisman scored again with a victory in the 1994 “Tony Hulman Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track with driver Cary Faas.

The most successful driver in terms of victories for Chrisman was his partnership with driver Kevin Doty, who drove to victory in six of Chrisman’s eight career USAC triumphs at Eldora Speedway in 1995 and twice in 1998; Twin Cities Raceway Park in 1997 and 1998; and Lawrenceburg Speedway in 1998.

USAC extends its deepest condolences to Chrisman’s family and friends.
