Not trying to ruffle any feathers here. O.K. So I just read where Lawrenceburg pays $400 for 4th place on a normal sprint program night. Just wondering how much money a normal guy like, oh, say a Robert Ballou, or a John Memmer (don't say it) would spend to race on a normal night at Lawrenceburg. I mean from the time that you pull out of your driveway, to the time that you pull in at the end of the night. Where do you have to finish to make money. Just curious.

I spent an average of $750-$950 to race every night out last year...and here is why...

$75-100 Desiel
$75-100 Alky
$100-160 (4 pit passes)
$350-400 (right and left rear tire)
$50-100 oil, WD-40, brake Clean, Gasoline Ect...
plus engine freshing about $2500 every 20 shows = $125 per race!
This is before hotels, Crashes, Ect...

Because of these costs Landon Simon Racing is looking for Help and or Sponsorship for the 2010 Racing season! People typically dont realize how much time and money go into these racecars...untill they do it on there own for a season! We raced 38 races last year and if it wasnt for New York Life, Performance Powder Coating, DBI, and everyone else that pitch in it would have been possible! Thanks to all of you! Landon Simon

I am reminded of a quote from the late J.C. Agajanian. "I know there's big money in auto racing, because I put most of it there."

Last year we spent about $400 per show. I get deals on all my cleaners and oils, we don't buy new tires for every race, we never stay in hotels (unless we are very far away) and we get methanol for $135 a barrel (it's 100% pure racing methanol from Renegade Racing Fuels).

$2500= freshening by Jeff Claxton
$7000= same freshening Gaerte, kistler, Ect...

These Prices im sure arent acrossed the board just my personal knowledge and exp... with cost and builders.. I personally would us Jeff Claxton over the others even if they where that same price!

Same Work, Parts and Same performance in my opinion!
I understand every engine need more or less work.. im refering to a mid-season Freshening..valve springs ect...I try to get 35-40 races before we get into Pistons Ect..

We would not be racing if it was not for Jeff Claxton and a ton of the best fans in the world. We went 50 races on a motor one year because we could not afford to have it freshened and had no problems at all.
As far as we are concerned Jeff is the guy to call if you need a good strong reliable motor.
