Any info on why there were only 20 cars at Kokomo? Will it be that short again tonight?

Agree, in central Indiana and can’t more than 20 midgets is a head scratcher. Great turnout for the sprints

Rough track Friday night along with turning over a few cars. Couple cars run Lincoln Park on Saturday.

I can't recall the last time a POWRI race paid more than USAC. POWRI only pays $2,000 to win, $400 for fifth and $200 for 16th on back. USAC is $3,000 to win $600 for fifth and $275 to start according to their site.

Hopefully that’s not an ominous sign for Midget Week. I will say this however, you can’t complain the quality of the racing. Maybe the price of rental racing is finally taking its toll. I also was surprised that the crowd wasn’t bigger too.

Here's the head scratcher, USAC charges the same 25 dollar gate for midgets and sprints and the midgets only pay a little more than half. Yeah I know the track sets the gate and there is a basic payment for the purse and sanction fee but why the difference? The cars cost the same, Probably more for midget in some cases as spares and parts aren't available everywhere.

Not a attack, a question?

Good quality cars in the field no doubt about that. KKM didn't bring 7 or 8 cars so that shortens the field a bit.
National midgets are just too expensive for everyone to play any more. I'm hoping the car counts will pick up.

I was surprised too. I often complain about cars counts when USAC comes East, but recent USAC sprint eastern swing had better count than last nite (I know, apples to oranges, but....)
Maybe local guys didn't think they could compete?
I thought purse was supposed to be bigger than usual last nite ("Grand Prix")... am I wrong?
