Schuerenberg Wins Gaines Memorial!
34 Lawrenceburg Chevrolet Sprint Cars were
set to compete at The 4th annual Dick Gaines
Memorial. Several non regular sprint Car
drivers were in attendance including Jon
Stanbrough, Brady Short, Robert Ballou, Jeff
Bland Jr., Hunter Schuerenberg and Dickie
Gaines who was trying to win the race named
after his father. With 34 cars at the track, not
everyone would get the chance to compete
for the $3,000 to win Dick Gaines Memorial.
In order to have the chance, each of the 34
drivers would have to transfer through the
heat races or the B-mains. Four 8-lap heat
races were up first. The top 4 from each heat
race would move on to the feature. Heat
races winners were Brady Short, Robert
Ballou, Jon Stanbrough, and Ricky Williams.
The top 2 from the 2 B-mains would complete
the feature field. Dickie Gaines and Bret
Mellenberndt won the B-mains. The 30 lap
Dick Gaines Memorial was set for the green
flag with Brady Short and Robert Ballou on the
front row. Robert Ballou starting on the
outside of Row 1 took the high line and led
the first several laps. Hunter Schuerenberg
was the only other Sprint that seemed to have
anything for Ballou. Schuerenberg was able
to wrestle the lead away from Ballou on lap
11 and he was off and running. Ballou and
Stanbrough, who both had strong runs going
had tire problems and were unable to finish.
Schuerenberg was able to run away with the
victory for his second win in 2008 at The
Lawrenceburg Speedway and his first Dick
Gaines Memorial Feature. Thomas Meseruall,
Ricky Williams, Dickie Gaines, and AJ
Anderson rounded out the top 5. Dickie
Gaines had the crowd on their feet as he
started from the rear of the field and charged
all the way to finish forth. The Lawrenceburg
Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the
Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday
September 6.

Jeff Barnhart wins first career AMSA feature.
33 AMSA Mini-sprints were on hand at
Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday August
30. Only 20 cars would make the feature so
everybody was trying to transfer through the 4
heats and the 1 B-main. Four 8-lap heats
where the top 4 would transfer to the 20 lap
feature were up first. Heat races were won
by Ryan Braughton, Rod Sanders, Mike Willis,
and Howard McCormick. The 1 B-main was
won by Seth Wilkerson. JR Douglas and
Howard McCormick would lead the field to the
green flag for the 20 lap feature. JR Douglas
jumped out to the lead and looked like he
was the mini-sprint to beat. Douglass was
able to hold off most challenges for the race
lead, but Jeff Barnhart who started tenth was
moving his way to the front. Barnhart was
able to take the lead on lap 13 and lead the
final 8 laps to win his first career AMSA
feature! JR Douglas was able to hold on to
second followed by AMSA series point leader
Dustin Hueston, Rod Sanders and Austin
Archdale. The AMSA mini-sprints return to
Lawrenceburg Speedway on Friday September
12.

Bruce goes 3-4!
14 Ohio Valley Screenprinters Purestocks
were on hand at the Burg on Saturday August
30. Two 8-lap heat races were run to set the
lineup for the 15 lap feature race. Mark Bruce
and Willie McRoberts were the heat race
winners. The two fastest Purestocks would
lead the field to green with Bruce and
McRoberts on the front row. McRoberts was
able to lead lap 1 but neither he or the rest of
the field had anything for Mark Bruce. The
driver that has dominated the 2008
Purestocks at The Lawrenceburg Speedway
took the lead on lap 2 and didn't look back.
The Commiskey Indiana native was able to
win for the third time in 4 tries in 2008 and
increase his point lead in the 2008 track
championship standings. Willie McRoberts
was second, followed by John Busse who
started 14 th, Tony Harvey and Jeff Maybury.
The Ohio Valley Screenprinters return to The
Burg on Saturday September 6.
