PREPARATIONS CONTINUE FOR XTREME SPEED CLASSIC

Bristol, TN - September 30, 2011 - Preparations continued Friday afternoon for the inaugural Xtreme Speed Classic sanctioned by the BIOBASED.US Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series (MSRXSS). The event will take place Saturday night at the legendary high-banked Bristol Motor Speedway.

Nearly thirty cars took advantage of an open practice session held at the speedway Friday afternoon. The teams used the practice session as a time to get the cars dialed in for the season finale for the MSRXSS as well as a possible assault on the world's record set at the track by Jason Blonde in March. Blonde set the record with a lap of 13.245 (144.871 mph) during the " World's Fastest Half-Mile Speed Trials " promotion. Cooler temperatures are predicted for Saturday night's event and the conditions may be perfect for a new world record attempt.

Three drivers were unofficially under the track record during Friday afternoon's practice session lead by Fishers, IN driver Brian Gerster. The only serious event of the day occurred when Jason Blonde lost his top wing heading down the front straight causing him to loose control and spin the car. Blonde was ok and minimal damage was done to his car.

The afternoon practice session was the first laps at Bristol for a majority of the drivers. Many commented on how smooth the track was. Multiple teams used the test session as an opportunity to test the new American Racer tire designed exclusively for Bristol that will be used in Saturday's event. Many teams praised the tire and feel it should lead to a competitive event.

Saturday's event will include qualifications, heat races, twin last chance races, and an action packed twenty-five lap feature. The $10,000 to win event is set to begin at 3:30 PM EST. For more information on the inaugural Xtreme Speed Classic please log onto www.bristolmotorspeedway.com

By now I'm a known hater of wings, but I have to say thats damn cool and I have the balls to say that theres no way I'd have the balls to do it. Them boys are p.s. Wolfgang did a lap at Flemington 5/8 mile dirt track at a average of 142 mph. your mind couldnt grasp what you were seeing, I'm sure it's the same at Bristol. Could you imagine losing your wing at them speeds ? Holy cow.

Gerster went into the 12.9s yesterday in practice. And the only wing issues have been on cars running a VERY low wing angle. There were zero wall or car to car impact incidents yesterday.

The weather is in the low 50s with overcast and a strong breeze.
