The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship event at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway that was rained out on its originally scheduled date of April 22 has been rescheduled to Friday night, September 29 and will be part of a championship weekend at the Montpelier Motor Speedway (with a full program on Saturday featuring Midgets, UMP Mods, Super Streets, Thunder Cars, and FWD).

In 2016 Amsoil USAC Sprint Car competition, it was Oklahoma’s Brady Bacon who picked up the Montpelier feature event win for the famed Hoffman Auto Racing team. Bacon bested a tough field beating Kyle Cummings, Dave Darland, Shane Cottle, and Chase Stockon to the finish line. The win propelled a strong 2016 for Bacon who later who the 2016 USAC National Champion for Sprint Cars.

The Montpelier Motor Speedway, which began racing in 1903 and hosted its first automobile race in 1915, is one of America’s oldest remaining racing facilities. Sprint car racing first came to Montpelier in the late 1940’s in the form of “Big Cars”. While the east central Indiana ¼ mile clay oval has a historic past, the facility has seen many major modern upgrades the past four seasons including new restrooms and bleachers along with the addition of many safety features such as a new catch fence system along with a new front stretch wall, lighting system, and runoff area. The Montpelier Motor Speedway commonly competes weekly on Saturday Nights with its popular Modified and Stock Car divisions, and is also the host to the popular Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget series.

USAC is one of the oldest running sprint car sanctioning bodies in the country. From 1956 to 1979, USAC sanctioned the United States National Championship, and from 1956 to 1997, the organization sanctioned the Indianapolis 500. The who’s-who of USAC is a list of some of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport. Former national sprint car champions include Parnelli Jones, A.J. Foyt, Johnny Rutherford, Gary Bettenhausen, Levi Jones, Rich Vogler, Kenny Shrader, Dave Darland, Jack Hewitt, and current NASCAR stars Tony Stewart, J.J. Yeley, Jeff Gordon, Cole Whitt, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Josh Wise, and Kyle Larson all competed as USAC regulars. 2015 Indianapolis 500 starter the late Bryan Clauson is also a two-time USAC sprint car champion.

Guys, I can tell you two weeks ago at the Boss race, The track was in stellar condition, no dust and done at a decent time with a rework. That's with well over 40 sprints and a full field of mods, and two other classes running

Hats off for that Show Brian, I hope this one is well attended both in cars and fans. Neat track. Went to the midget week show as well last year. for a three hour trip, it's worth it when you can make it. Unfortunately this weekend I cannot.

Looking forward to it. Glad to see hot laps at 6. I thought earlier it said 5, was going to be tough to get there after work. Whether I read it wrong or you changed it, thanks.
