Edd Sheppard, founder of Paragon Speedway is being inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame on June 1st. His vision and his leadership helped create one of the greatest racing hotspots, during the 60's and 70's. His family has put together a Facebook page, that has countless photos from this place (and others) during the golden age of sprint car racing. I kept clicking on the photographs and found myself on this site for almost two hours, the other night.

Here's one example of one of the great pictures that are there. This a class picture of some of the top drivers that drove at Paragon Speedway on a particular year. I think this one is from 1970. How many of these drivers can you name?

OK, so you've knocked 5 off the list.

I remember watching Bob Kinser win so many races in Jerry Shields' car at Paragon. Those guys had that place figured out.

According to the caption accompanying the photo on the web page, you're were really close. One of the guys standing there in blue jeans, I didn't recognize, either.

I'd just like to know what Dick Gaines and Sheldon Kinser are looking at.

If you think about it, there were at least 5 people there (4 pictured) that are in the Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Dick Gaines, Sheldon Kinser, Bob Kinser and Galen Fox are in the photo. And if Gaines was there during this era, it means that more than likely, Dizz Wilson or Karl Kinser were on the grounds, somewhere. Next Monday, Edd Sheppard will make it 6. Not too bad for just a local track "Out in the middle of nowhere."

It was a good place to be as a kid. I know that for sure.

Probably both were there since, at that point in time, Gaines drove for Dizz and Larry Miller drove for Karl.
