Top 3 cars had the words USAC painted on their right rears immediatley after the race - they were checking fuel earlier this week - sounds like it's time for tires now

I was told that his motor just let go. Sounds odd since he had been running so stroing early ton. Oho well, two more tracks he excels on should make this last two nights pretty interesting.

Regardless of so many complaining i thought thought the racing was good tonight at Brownstown. Seen 4 wide a couple times. Yes it was dusty but i have been to several tracks that have been dusty. The heats were good racing. Brady did one heck of a job in the b-main and feature. Once Brady caught uo with Riggs he was all over him with Levi right behind. With about 5 laps to go Brady was trying slide under Riggs for the pass but Riggs held him off. Brady got high with about 3 to go which gave Levi second. Brady did a slide on Levi coming out turn 4 on the last lap but Levi held on for second by inches. Now for those of who stayed home because of the dust, you missed some real good racing. I hope i can make it to Bloomington as so far Gas City and Brownstown are the only two i have been able to attend.

It was one of those nights that started out really bad, but ended up better than it could have. It wasn't the worst night of Indiana Sprint Week, so far. Not even close. But, it was nowhere near the thrillers we witnessed at Terre Haute and Kokomo, either.

Chad Boespflug jumped out to the early lead and for a little bit, it was a nice lead. And it lasted for more than half the race. Eventually, Casey Riggs would reel him in, while being caught by Brady Short and Levi Jones, himself. Riggs would eventually take the lead and Boespflug would nearly spin, shortly after. He made a real nice save, although he would drop back several spots. At the same time, although passing wasn't all that easy, Bobby East had it working on the bottom and was gaining spots within the top 10. And Shane Cottle, who had started near the back, was passing everybody. So, there was a point most of the way through the race, that you had Riggs starting to pull away some, Levi eventually passing Short back for second. East threatening to gain some more spots. And Hines, Schurenberg, Stanbrough, Ballou and Boespflug were all working each other over to establish the pecking order for the pack right behind the leaders. Hines found something up top and not only come out on top of this group, but would eventually take East's position away from him, too. Boespflug regrouped and had a resurgence that would help him win one of the race's better battles, with Cottle. And Gulick would pressure Ballou for nearly the entire race to finally take his spot away from him. That one was half way decent, as well. All as Riggs extended his lead and ended up winning comfortably.

So, all in all, the feature kind of saved the day, for this program. There were enough things going on for most of it to keep it interesting. It was one of those cases of the best drivers anywhere bailing out a not-so-well ran show.

Jerry
