For years, the Wednesday before the Indy 500 was Community Day. Free entrance into the track, the pits were open, and an autograph session for the Indy Lite drivers. I don't see any mention of it in this year's schedule. Have they done away with Community Day? Also, is the memorabilia show at the Fairgrounds the Friday and Saturday before the 500 also dead? Thanks for any info you have.

Anything that was free at the Indianapolis Speedway has been eliminated. Anything that was reasonably priced at the Indianapolis Speedway has seen large price increases.

The memorabilia show that had been at the fairground has now been incorporated into the huge show at IMS the day before the race. Show is free with paid admission to the grounds.

Thanks. I was afraid that there was now one, not two shows. One of the great things about the fairgrounds show was the autograph sessions with past greats. With the apparent demise of the Indy Lite autograph session at the Brickyard, there doesn't appear to be anywhere a normal person can get an autograph of either a past great or an up-and-comer. The sessions in the Kroger parking lot disappeared a few years ago and there don't appear to be any others scattered around town. Too bad. Thanks for the info.

Unless u run into former racing legends in the infield like I did a few years back... So story goes..Was wondering around aimlessly with a buddy on raceday and ran into Arie Luyendyk.. Recognized him right away..so asked him for autograph.. Well in the mean time another gentleman was walking kinda of just behind him... Kinda acted offended.. Arie starts laughing and in that accent says Tom,Tom!! Come here u can sign too... All the while snickering!!...Yeah so come to find out it was Tom Sneva.. Age gap and recognition kinda threw me for a loop!! Any way funny story wanted to share... LOL

The same morning of the memorabilia show ALL 33 Indy 500 starting drivers are on the Plaza for a short autograph session before the drivers meeting then the parade downtown. Get there early.
