I have a lot of newspaper clippings from the 1950's. It is quarter to five am and I am off to work but will look into this for you this evening.

I believe it to be European

The closest I've come to the grill is:

Stanguellini Barchetta Biposto 1100 year 1957

But Maserati isn't a bad call, the car is very italian in styling

I was thinking looks more British, like a Connaught, or HWM, or something. There's something about British single-seaters around the time things were getting more "streamlined" that had a certain awkwardness to them; the nose is a tad too long, the cowl doesn't quite "flow", even the sweep of the exhaust is a little funny. Very interesting opinion about it being British I had also had those thoughts. I have contacted The Beaulieu National Motor Museum in Kent the UK. I hope to have a response soon.

I'll take a shot, when I was in High School yet, I worked at a Ford Garage in downtown Columbus, In, we had a regular customer who drove a machine a lot like this one, to our shop for maintenance, it was a Masserati, lord you could hear it coming for blocks, we had one mechanic that knew this machine inside out, he didn't help the noise much, but it sure helped it a lot. I can still remember the sounds it emitted. I think Kenny Coffman was the man who had the honors. Bob

Masser, very interesting. Very little available online about the constructor. Would anybody here have access to any archives? Fingers crossed!
