Throwback Thursday from Bloomington Speedway:

Kenny Niflis in 2009 won the 21st Sheldon Kinser Memorial in exciting fashion coming from the 16th starting position to pass Brady Short for the lead.

Niflis left with his first victory at Bloomington Speedway that night beating Short who had accumulated six wins at that point of the season.

The 17-year-old senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School, at the time, was quoted after winning the 40-lap feature stating it was the most important win of his career.

"I’ve been coming here since I was 1 years old,” Niflis said. “This is a dream come true.”

I was there that night! He won riding the bottom! If I remember right the track was dusty that night! Great win for that kid! To bad he never really took it any further could have been a great rival for Brady! His dad races at Paragon a lot!

Kenny did not get into trouble, they just changed paths. Kenny and his dad, Trent work full time making custom artwork for race cars. They do a great job and Kenny was named after my grandpa Kenny Simpson. I was there that night when he won and never been more happy for a family in racing. They deserved that win and wish they kept going longer than they did.
Here is the video if you have time to watch.

Just going off what I heard from a source close to the family.

Either way, he was coming into his own as a racer. Would love to see him back in a car at some point.

Dan, All I know for certain is Kenny was and likely still is one of the most naturally gifted drivers I have ever seen, anywhere, and I have seen a bunch!

It is too bad whatever the issue was, that has kept him out of a sprint car. I know he and his dad are working in a shop in Bedford and Kenny is doing fine, he just doesn't have the funds to build and run a car currently.

My guess is he could still put one around the track given the opportunity.

Also, this was not posted by me, I am no longer involed in postings for the track.
