I"m surprised no one is talking about the other social media post he made yesterday. I thought it was actually more intriguing.

Think about this...NASCAR model...sign a big billion dollar TV deal...the $$$ trickles down to the sanction, the tracks and the teams - not all at the same percentage of course. IndyCar model...signs a smaller dollar $$ TV deal due to demand (or whatever reason you want to insert)...same idea and type of split.

Streaming $...buy a per race or monthly subscription. Chet shared money with the tracks when he had SpeedShift - that's why he was more popular around here - his business model shared something. Many of the early adopters on the streaming side DIDN'T SHARE A DIME. Some still don't. Wonder where Barry at XR came from? He was IMCA.tv - when we were watching sprint cars, he was selling subscriptions to the mothers, brothers, and cousins of all the racers that go to the Boone Nationals that we don't pay any mind to (I know you're sprint car people - google it and see how many mothers, brothers, and cousins you could sell to in that market and multiply it by $40 or $50).

Flo shares some but it'll never be enough of course. They have 15+ other sports that they deal with. We're only a smaller piece of their pie but they still only charge us $150/year. It could be $49.99/month or higher.

All of these monster purses are popping up because we're all subscribing to these streaming places - it isn't because we're selling more tickets, filling grandstands, and the overflow has to get their seat by tuning in. Some sanctions or new groups are sharing the streaming dollars in that way. That's how some of the touring series are paying $25k two nights in a row in the middle of nowhere - or throwing in another $50k race you didn't see before. It's mostly money we sent them in the form of a subscription that trickled back down to them (the sanction or group). They can either share it with the tracks and have less to share with their teams and to put on events - or they can keep it all and do with it what they please. Then it's up to the tracks that feel shorted by those sanctions or group not sharing to choose what shows they book.

Like I said...some of the pie might not be enough. But you look around and book another group and theirs might not share any pie at all.

That's the world we live in right now...Streaming content is more important than any one of us at the facility on a given night...

Few people know this but the Dumpster Fire is a sprint car fan and Robert is his favorite driver that doesn't reside in his golf bag.

Nope, read Vic's press release April 22nd, which has since been edited?
And now miraculously they announce they are staying open, so........?

Augie I urge you to listen to the Mostly Motorsports podcast with Vic Hill himself, the promoter of the Gap. Don’t hold me to this as being verbatim but it’s close. He said there’s a rumor that Flo took the money and ran, he said that’s not true. They did everything they said they would. He said it was a success. The money lost was on his end from getting what apparently was a run down facility ready to race. He told a story of the water company calling and telling him he used 77,000 gallons of water. When he arrived in the flooded concession stand he knew why

Another issue that is coming into play is Flo buying up the rights to individual race tracks, THEN trying to keep streaming services from traveling series from broadcasting their own deal.

Some tracks are rolling over to Flo, then failing to stand up to the deals made with a series.

Obviously WoO can throw their weight around and get theirs. But series like my BOSS and FAST are attempting to be pushed around and it may get ugly behind the scenes at some tracks.

I was told 3 years ago, just as streaming was getting big, that it would bring out the worst in people.

Believe it or not, it WILL start affecting series scheduling ....... and already has for some.

They also announced that Bull Gap had the largest crowd in 20 years for the Flo Night race, so fan attendance wasn't the issue. The interview with Vic was pretty telling. The place sounds like it needs a ton of work to make it functional and profitable. These tracks are business' and should be treated as such. The days of just opening the doors and making money are over.

I love streaming. I have a young family and can't get to the races as much as I used to, but Flo keeps me vested. I'm planning on a trip to Port Royal strictly because of the racing I have seen on Flo. It's also got me watching pavement modifieds, which I have never been interested in. Can it hurt a track when weather is in the area, yes. With that being said I think more good comes from streaming than bad. Just my opinion.

often best racing on flo is the Marshaltown IA IMCA stocks. Visited that town once. Was in Altoona IA camping, casino and amusement park when they announced on local radio the UP Challenger would be coming to Marshaltown that day, quick look at map 20 minutes up the road and we waited for five hours to see it. Didn't even know there was a track there.

Can't speak about the Flo revenue share but when it was SpeedShift they split 50/50 with track. The breakdown on number of viewers concerned us online at first but when you looked at the locations of everyone, there were few in the state that watched and most were out of state. We seen that as someone probably out of state wasn't traveling on a Friday anyway and was good for exposure and additional revenue.
