Myrtle Beach speedway closing

I know it doesn't fit, but it is yet another place to race, or watch from, that will soon be forgotten.

That area has been my 2nd home since 1985. When I'm down there I'm about 20 minutes south of the track. My sister lives there fulltime. She had a job as a tennis pro/director for 20+ years. The club was sold to a Japanese Co. who bulldozed it and built condos a year ago. The area has changed a lot and not for the benefit of the residents.

I saw a NASCAR Modified Tour race there last year, good track even though it was asphalt. I thought it was big enough for USAC Silver Crown event. Anyhow I got to see a race there, kind of figured it was getting squeezed out with all of the development going on near the track.
