You didn’t spend 120$ in tix to do all of IMW or ISW? Did you get in free some nites? If you live in Indiana I would assume your lodging costs were relatively low as well.
This may be a one and done event in a part of the country that many of us may only get to see once in a lifetime. 200,000$ purse for 3 nites. The money needs to come from somewhere. It’s 20 hours from my house out there and I’m not gonna ***** about the cost. If you can’t go that’s ok, but don’t compare it to ISW or IMW. Be thankful there is a grand event like this for non wing racing. Not everything non wing has to happen in a three hour radius INDY.

It's hilarious .. post after post on here saying non-wing purses are too low and something needs to be done. We have a great guy in Matt Wood scheduling a big show that pays like a big WoO show and then it's "I'm not paying those prices" even though the prices are pretty much the same as Smackdown tickets. Priceless.

I will be at Huset's supporting it.

If you don't like the camping prices at the track the RV Park at Grand Falls Casino is eight miles from the track and is $35 a night. (605) 582-7243

Another option is Big Sioux Recreation Area prices there are $15 a night for tent and $26 a night with electric hookup. It's a whole .9 miles from the track. (605) 582-7243

While some of this is true, What your not getting is that many people have used up their vacation time or already made plans for something else for a late season event.

You make the decision to go to Chili Bowl or Oval Nationals and most make them Vacation request and reservations ten months ahead. For both of those "THE TICKET PRICE" is a fraction of the cost of doing it all.

Excuse me Charles but I get it. I choose to work for a living and I don't need lectured on the subject. Tell me if as you say "some of this is true" exactly which part of my post is a lie?

When the schedule came out I chose to use some of my vacation on this new big event. This event was released to the public on 1/13/2021 which would be a little over seven months ago.

Matt Wood was promoting the USAC Nationals race several of the days of the Knoxville Nationals in front of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. When the event was announced, my wife and I considered going, but we decided to wait and see how this first year went. We do not camp (my wife’s idea of camping is a Holiday Inn Express) and in all honesty, we had a little trouble finding information about local places to stay. I did express this to Matt Wood when he asked if we had our tickets to the event as we walked out of the Museum, and he said he needed to include a link to local hotels if he has the event next year. Although we are on a fixed income, I am not opposed to paying a somewhat higher ticket price IF the facility and competition is worth it AND the payout to the racers is higher. Hopefully, Matt Wood gives this event a chance to grow, although it sounds like it may be off to a rough start this year.

*If* this event succeeds, and I hope it does, then it's going to need the bulk of it's support from fans residing closer than Indiana (or Ohio, in my case). Sure, a big event needs travelers in addition to the locals, but if a promoter is banking on people to make a 10 hour drive in order for his event to be successful, then I doubt it will be. Good luck, Mr. Wood, and thank you- I wish I could make it.

I hate the "fixed income" line people throw around. They use it at the emergency veterinarian all the time. Like, dude, most all of us are on a fixed income.I make X per hour and work 40 hours, no overtime authorized. That's pretty fixed to me

I think part of the problem is location. We were planning on going, but now am not sure if I will be able. This part of the country is big wing country. It will take time to grow. On the other hand fan and racers say they want more high paying races. Then don't support them and pay what it takes to make it happen. $1500 to start Saturday at Kokomo. That is not bad.
