MSCS Sprints Cars To Montpelier This Sat., July 23rd - $2000 To Win | $200 To Start

The Midwest Sprint Car Series is set to return to the historic Montpelier Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 23rd as a part of 2016 MSCS series championship slate. For the popular series, now in its 16th season, the July 23rd visit will serve as the second annual visits to MMS for the Southern Indiana based 410 Non-Wing Series. The event will pay a healthy $2000 To Win and $200 To Start to series competitors.

The 2015 appearance saw Shane Cottle pick up the $2000 feature win from the 6th starting position besting former Montpelier UMP Modified Track Champion Brady Short, 2015 USAC Sprint Champion Robert Ballou, Dave Darland, and Dickie Gaines, Short was the 2015 MSCS Champion. In 2016 Non-Wing competition at the Montpelier Motor Speedway, Brady Bacon won the USAC National event while also setting the MMS qualifying track record at 14. 199; Bryan Clauson picked up the MMS Sprint Car win in the Sprint Car portion of Indiana Midget Week. In 2016 MSCS competition of the six features held four different drivers have won features. Chase Stockon and Thomas Meseraull have won two each. Kyle Cummins and Mitch Wissmiller have also posted wins.

The Montpelier Motor Speedway, which began racing in 1903 and hosted its first automobile race in 1915, is one of America’s oldest remaining racing facilities. While the east central Indiana ¼ mile clay oval has a historic past, the facility has seen many major modern upgrades the past four seasons including new restrooms and bleachers along with the addition of many safety features including a new catch fence and front stretch wall. The Montpelier Motor Speedway commonly competes weekly on Saturday Nights with its popular Modified and Stock Car divisions and is also the host to the popular Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget series.

Please note that we have pushed the start times back one hour for this race to help with the heat and complete as much racing as we can in the dark.

Gates will open at 4
Wheel Pack/ Hot Laps / Sprint Qualifying at 6
Racing at 7:30

Let me know if anyone has any questions. We hope to see a lot of fans and teams out for our $2000 to Win race with the MSCS!

There was a closure on 18 right after you get off I-69 headed east when I went through a few weeks ago for a bridge repair. It was right before state road 5. That was on June 25 so it could be open by now. 18 is open at state road 3 where it was closed in the spring.

This is correct. Both are easy detours to highway 18. If you are back road adventurous there are also some country roads around it from 18.

We hope to see everyone out tonight for a great show!
