I have previously raced Maxim torsion bar cars with some sucess over the years but, recently got a ride with a guy that has a J & J car that was mostly ran with a wing. I am having a hell of a time getting the car to work and am looking for any advice? It is a 40" - 88 1/2" standard rail chassis. I have set it up fairly basic with 1000's across the rear, 1025 in the LF and 1050 in the RF. I blocked the rear at 4 3/4" and the front at 2 3/4". I run the front axle straight up with no lead and 14 degrees on the king pin, shocks and stagger fairly basic depending on track conditions and nothing extreme.
The car wants to plow into the corners no matter the stagger or tilt and doesn't seem to take well to any changes? I have noticed that not many people run J & J's without a wing and maybe there is something to that? Please help ! PS - Do most of you guys roll your bird cages forward or leave them level? Lastly, I race in Washington so, your speed secrets are safe with me and I unfortunately won't ever be able to race with you guys in Indiana or the mid west. |
