I did some further number crunching. You showed the number for the 'top' driver, I did a comparison of the 10 top money earning drivers from each.

Winged, the top 10 averaged $267,600 money earned, with an average of 71 races run, that was an average of $3,769 per race.

Non-Wing, the top 10 averaged $70,700 money earned, with an average of 50 races run, that was an average of $1,414 per race.

That equates to winged drivers earning 3 to 4 times more than wingless drivers. That is a very big number. The big differences are the very high paying winged races, where there are very few of those races with wingless.

Other numbers in comparison...
  • Total payout to all drivers, Winged $10,590,557, Non-Wing $2,556,053
  • Number of Drivers, Winged 874, Non-Wing 660
  • Races run, Winged 411, Non-Wing 240
  • Average Payout per race, Winged $25,768, Non-Wing $10,650

How much do you think you have to spend to get 150K?

Ironic, I asked this same question last year. So far nobody has been able to ask the first question on this topic:

How much do the USAC point champions get rewarded for winning their respective series? The original question from Flagboy has been deflected to what the WoO points pays, how much they spend to earn that and how far they travel.

Looking at the USAC travel dates, they go to FL, NE, IA, PN, NJ, NY, MO, KS, AZ, CA, and of course locally. That alone looks like some pretty extensive traveling to me.

I'd like to know what they get rewarded at the end of the year, but it must be a secret. It's certainly never publicized. Like Flagboy, just asking an honest question. Thanks

i think a more fair comparison would be usac to all stars...very similar schedules aside from the trip west at the end of the season.. i have no idea how they compare money wise

That is nearly embarrassing for a national series.

Been that way for a few years I believe there is a member on the board who posted the officials salaries and there increases a couple years back the money is not going to the owners and drivers was nice to read that, would be interesting to see more updated info.

Wonder why someone such as Brady Bacon, who runs well with the wing also, chooses to stay with the non wing stuff?
