STOCKON TO RACE FOR KO MOTORSPORTS FOR REST OF 2020 USAC SPRINT SEASON

By: Richie Murray – USAC Media

Speedway, Indiana (July 2, 2020)………Chase Stockon, the ultimate ironman of USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car competition with a record 301 consecutive feature starts dating back to 2012, will occupy a new ride for the remainder of the 2020 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car season beginning with this weekend’s Bill Gardner Sprintacular, Friday and Saturday night, July 3-4 at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind.

The iconic 32 TBI Racing No. 32 that the Fort Branch, Indiana driver used in all 301 of those starts, has been shelved as the 12-time USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car feature winner takes over the wheel of the KO Motorsports No. 5s

In 2019, Stockon drove for KO Motorsports solely in Midwest Sprint Car Series competition, making 14 starts and earning a best finish of 2nd last August at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.* At the same track in mid-June of this year, Stockon drove the car to a 6th place feature finish with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Stockon and the KO team continuously made improvement throughout the 2019 campaign, producing progressively better finishes on a more consistent basis each time they hit the track.* Brian Davis of KO Motorsports recently approached Stockon to do more races for the team, and Stockon felt the timing was right to do something different, albeit with a team he has a familiar rapport with in recent times.

“It’s somewhat of a merger of teams, to a degree,” Stockon explained.* “But on the same token, it’s a different deal. *We run different cars and we won’t be running DRC’s anymore which will be a little different.* We have a long-standing relationship with Joe (Devin of DRC Chassis), and it will be the first time I’ve raced anything different in years.”

“The Velocity chassis is a little different than what we’re used to,” Stockon continued. *“I got a chance to run it like three times last year.* The car is basically similar to Kent Schmidt’s car that C.J. Leary ran in Iowa and Missouri (in early June) and it’s proven to be a good car.* This is a really nice operation and I think the transition will be pretty seamless.”

Stockon’s transition to KO Motorsports will retain the same personnel with D.J. Ott serving as the crew chief. *All his sponsors are coming along with him as well aboard the Fisher Chevy powered ride – Ravens Manufacturing, AMSOIL, Dewig Meats and Tom Burkey of Superior Tank & Trailer along with Hutson John Deere.

For the Bill Gardner Sprintacular at Lincoln Park Speedway co-sanctioned by MSCS, on Friday, adult general admission tickets are $25 while children age 10 and under are free.* Pit admission is $30.* The pits open at 3pm ET with the front gate opening at 4:30pm and hot laps at 6:30pm.* Modifieds, Super Stocks and Bombers are also racing in the event.

On Saturday at Lincoln Park, adult general admission tickets are $25 while children age 10 and under are free.* Pit admission is $35.* The pits open at 3pm ET with the front gate opening at 4:30pm and hot laps at 6pm.* The USAC Midwest Regional Midgets join the USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midgets and Race Savers 305 Winged Sprints on the event card.

Tickets are on sale for all three of these events now, exclusively at www.usactickets.com.

All these events can be seen LIVE exclusively on FloRacing.
