Really big crowd and a ton of cars. 40 sprints and between 130-140 cars total. Enough for 2 B Mains in Sprints, Modifieds and Super Stocks and 1 in Bombers.

In the sprint feature, AJ Hopkins got the lead early, but then a few laps later, after Brent Beauchamp secured second place, he reeled Hopkins in and closely pursued him for many laps. The two leaders were working the top of the track, with Hopkins slightly higher on the track than was Beauchamp. At the same time, Travis Berryhill was working the bottom effectively. One of the best parts of the race was about half way through, when they got into lapped traffic the first time and the pursuit started happening, with both drivers zipping in and out of heavy traffic. But then, just when that was getting really good, a lapped car pinched the leader Hopkins in turn two, the lapper rolled over, off of the top of the turn and we were stopped for a red.

On the restart, at first, Hopkins and Beauchamp started to take off again, but then Berryhill began hold his own and keeping pace. And even later, his sawing away on the bottom started getting even paying dividends, as he was starting to cut into the margin between he and Beuchamp. Meanwhile, Jadon Rogers had cleared a two car pack, was driving the rim of the track and began gaining on the top 3. After the last yellow, Hopkins jumped to a bit of the lead, as Beauchamp was fighting off a challenge for second place by BerryHill. It was a classic one on the bottom of the track-one of the top of the track duel. A few times, Berryhill was edging him out, but eventually Beauchamp would re-establish himself in the runner up position and resumed his focus on chasing down Hopkins.

When they signaled 5 to go, he had caught back up and shortly after the two to go signal, Brent would duck under him, to take the lead. A lap and a half later, he would take the checkered.

It was an entertaining race, as it almost always is when these two do battle. It was a great run and a great week for AJ. The pairing between he and Burton looks like one that's going to win a lot of races, this year. It was a patient and methodical stalking by Beauchamp. When it was 'go time" he made his move and took a win away from a driver who's racing really well, right now. On top of that, Berryhill and Shane Cockrum appear to be coming out of their early season slow starts and Jadon Rogers just seems to get a little bit better every time you see him. When that core group of drivers has their mojo going, you're going go to this track every week and get your money's worth and then some.

It was a long night, but there were so many cars to get through, in tonight's program. And with the pounding the racing surface has taken over the last three nights, a really good track rework was needed. They did a good one, it made a big difference and it resulted in a racier sprint feature than I've seen in the last handful of nights.

I think it was:

Beauchamp
Hopkins
Berryhill
Rogers

But I'm not 100% sure past Beauchamp and Hopkins, because I was pretty focused on that battle during the last handful of laps.
