If you figure the driver/owner split of 50/50 or 60/40 That paid more than the Winner of the race.

It was over $15,000 on Friday night too. It will be interesting to see how high it gets in September at the World 100 which should have just as big if not a bigger crowd.

What does Eldora do with the other half of the money?

I seem to remember that at some tracks it would go to fireworks, or to the point fund, or to a charity.

Didn't they stop selling 50/50 tickets for several years? I heard a story that the winner of a large pot, somewhere in the low twenty thousand area, asked how to report the winnings on his 1040, and was asked the source of the money. When he told the IRS the source, it led to an investigation and eventual upheaval of the sale of 50/50 tickets at Eldora. I don't remember them selling them at the Four Crown Nationals the last few years.
BTW, I have never seen a winged car race at Eldora. I saw the first WoO championship in 1978, but they were wingless then. I am going to both nights of the Four Crown this year since Steve Kinser is cutting back on his schedule, so I will finally see a winged car race.

Yes they stopped selling them for many years. Before, the track was profiting off the other half. Now the track donates the other half to a charity. Common charities are food banks, children's hospitals, and the tony Stewart foundation.

They quit selling for awhile due to Ohio Liquor, laws. It was considered gambling, but now that they give it to charity it ok. Goofy Ohio Laws.
