Street Stock Rumble and Fireworks
Take Center Stage at Gas City Friday

GAS CITY, Ind., Sept. 1 — Non-wing sprint cars, USAC SpeeD2 Midwest Thunder midgets, modifieds and hornets are on the big Labor Day Weekend Classic program this Friday night, Sept. 3 at Gas City I-69 Speedway, but it’s the street stock division that will take center stage with the gigantic Street Stock Rumble. The latter carries a $7,000 purse and the feature winner will go home with a cool $1,000. Just making the main event will guarantee a driver $100.

A giant fireworks show will also be included at no extra charge as the Grant County quarter-mile clay oval kicks the holiday weekend off in style.

Lee Hobbs of Mitchell, Ind., has won four street stock features this year at Gas City. Mike Fincher of Rochester, Ind.; Ervin Turner of Marion, Ind., and Glenn Bradley, also of Marion, have one street stock feature win apiece at Gas City so far this year. Andy Bishop of Gas City is the division’s defending track champion.

An adult general admission ticket is only $15, with students $10 and kids 12 and under free. A pit pass costs $30.

The pit gate will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstands at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and the racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Labor Day signifies the end of summer, and counting Friday night, fans only have six more opportunities to visit Gas City I-69 Speedway during the 2021 season. (Sept. 3, Sept. 10, Sept. 18, Sept. 23 and Oct. 22-23). There’s only one more points-paying night for the track championships, which is Sept. 10.

The complete 2021 schedule and more information are on the track’s website at GasCityI69Speedway.com. Fans and competitors can also follow it on Twitter: @GasCitySpeedway; Instagram: @GasCitySpeedway and Facebook: GasCitySpeedwayOnTheGas.
