If anyone knows what the passing point format is this year could you please post it.

Specifically I'm needing:
-- Points awarded for finish position
-- Points earned by the difference in your starting and finishing position
-- Points deducted for the difference in your starting and finishing position

Thanks

There is a chart in the Silly Bowl program that shows exactly how the points are awarded. If you e-mail me when I get back home, I can .PDF the chart to you. It's based on 100 points. The chart grid along the top horizontally is the starting position... 1 / 2 /3 / 4 /.etc. The vertical grid is the finish position. 1 / 2 / 3 / etc

For example if you start first and finish first you get 100 points. If you start 2nd and finish first you get 105 points. If you start 1st and finish second, you get 91.5 points. If you start 3rd and finish 1st you get 110 points. If you start 5th and finish 2nd you get 108 points. Those are some random examples. You may be able to fill in the chart from what I have given.

So basically 100 points to win the heat, with a 7 point drop after that, plus 5 points passed per car and you lose 1.5 points for each spot lost from your starting position?

Is the drop in points equal through the field?

The first vertical column is: 100, 91.5, 83, 74.5, 66, 57.5, 49, 40.5, 32, 23.5, 15, 6.5 (12th place)

The second vertical column is: 105,93, 84.5, 76, 67.5, 59, 50.5, 42, 33.5, 25, 16.5, 8 (start 2nd and finish 12th)

Third vertical column is: 110, 98, 86, 77.5, 69, 60.5, 52, 43.5, 35, 26.5, 18, 9.5

It looks like it's the way I described above.

100 points for winning a heat with a 7 point drop all the way.

5 points for gaining a spot, and -1.5 points for losing a spot.

I've attached a Word file of how the chart should come out. Don can check it against the program and let us know.

I just don't understand why a drivers has to be punished for a good starting spot and running a good race and winning.

The thing that makes it work is that they take the top 40 in points from the heats, split them into 4 "qualifiers", with the top 6 inverted. That gives the guy who started up front in his heat a chance to do some passing. Then, they add the points from the heats and the qualifiers to determine the A & B main lineups.
