Midgets Ready To Battle at Montpelier This Saturday, May 7th

The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series will head into round #3 this Saturday Night, May 21st in what will serve as the final Midget tune up before the kickoff of Indiana USAC Midget Week at MMS. The event will feature the Montpelier’s Midget Series which features full size Midgets and unlimited power plants and allows a platform for other engines including Focus, Ecotech, and Motorcycle powered entries to compete utilizing an unlimited weight break and additional tire width. The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series features an open tire brand and compound rule. The event will also feature a 2nd and separate trophy dash for the USAC Midwest Thunder Midget series. The series has car counts of 23 cars at both of the two previous events sponsored by Leaders Edge of Indianapolis, Indiana

The May 7th event found a familiar Montpelier Motor Speedway name in Victory Lane although in an unfamiliar car. UMP Modified heavy hitter, debuted his Spike/Brayton Midget at Montpelier and parked it in victory lane in his first outdoor start passing Colton Cottle and Indy Indoor winner Kyle Schuett. Orr best a field of 23 cars with Alex Watson picking up the USAC MTM victory over Gage Etgen. Scheutt will enter the weekend as the MMS points leader while Gunnar Lucius holds a slim advantage over Travis Young and Jacob Taylor for Rookie of the Year honors.

The Montpelier Motor Speedway, which began racing in 1903 and hosted its first automobile race in 1915, is one of America’s oldest remaining racing facilities. While the east central Indiana ¼ mile clay oval has a historic past, the facility has seen many major modern upgrades the past four seasons including new restrooms and bleachers along with the addition of many safety features such as a new catch fence system along with a new front stretch wall, lighting system, transponder scoring, and corner runoff areas. The Montpelier Motor Speedway commonly competes weekly on Saturday Nights with its popular Modified and Stock Car divisions and is also the host to the popular Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget series.

So the rules say midgets can run a 12 wide tire on a 10 inch rim. I have a 1000 car and it's worded wires but I assume the 1000 cars get run a 12 wide rim and tire
