Buckeye Machine BOSS Prepares for Hoosier Invasion

With the season a little past the halfway point, the heated points battle in the Buckeye Machine BOSS series is reaching a boiling point. One of the most anticipated doubleheaders of the season now sets on the horizon as the traveling stars and cars will invade the Whitewater Valley Speedway in Liberty, Indiana on Friday night, August 1st, followed by the 1st Annual "Jason Soudrette Memorial" at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday, August 2nd.

The Friday night event at Whitewater Valley Speedway will see traditional sprint cars making their first appearance there since new promoter Bill Wagner took over the facility. Recently known as Union County Speedway, the banked 1/4 mile oval has returned now to its original name and Wagner is quickly restoring the facility to its former glory. Fans and drivers can expect some of the most intense action of the season as the bullring facility is completely enclosed with a concrete retaining wall.

The following night, the true outlaws of BOSS will honor one of their first and finest drivers who ran in the founding days of the series. When it all began in 2011, Jason Soudrette ran the only 2 events sanctioned that season at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio and at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. With plans to follow the tour full time in 2012, Soudrette was stricken with an illness that would ultimately take him from us way too soon. The series and the track that Jason called home will come together Saturday night, August 2nd to present the "Jason Soudrette Memorial" at the Legendary Lawrenceburg Speedway. This event will feature an enhanced purse of $2,044 to win with the "44" added in honor of the orange #44 Soudrette piloted. The event will also pay $300 to start the event.

Russiaville, Indiana driver Dustin Smith leads the points in his quest to become the first repeat series champion. Smith took home the inaugural championship in 2012. However, Mike Miller of Wapakoneta, Ohio is right on his heels along with Michael Fischesser of Cincinnati. Evans City, Pennsylvania driver Brandon Spithaler will be in the famous Burkey #57B and sits fourth in points while Derek Hastings of Forest, Ohio rounds out the top 5. Defending BOSS champion Tony Beaber has had a miserable season and will no doubt be on the prowl for a win to turn his season around. Lightning Logan Hupp will be charged and ready to return to his home track aboard his BOSS entry of the #2M of Marshall Motorsports. Hupp scored 2 Lawrenceburg wins before going on the road this season where he added a win at historic Lernerville Speedway to his resume.

Friday night's event at Whitewater will feature the standard BOSS purse of $1,500 to win and $250 to start while the Lawrenceburg Soudrette Memorial purse has been enhanced to $2,044 to win and $300 to start. Pit passes will be $30 both nights. Gates will be open all day at both facilities for teams to enter early, but pit gates will open officially at 4 pm. There will be no transponder fees at either event and of course there are never any fees to race with BOSS.

BOSS would like to thank title sponsor Buckeye Machine of Forest, Ohio along with heat race sponsors Burdette Builders of Sunman, Indiana, Lias Tire/American Racer of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kistler Racing Engines of Fremont, Ohio, and FAST Signs of Dayton, OH. Heat races pay the top 4 finishers $40, $30, $20, and $10 respectively.

Bonus awards available for this event include the Hochstetler Truck and Auto Repair "Steel Block Award" of $50 to the highest finishing iron engine block. The Lynn Cook "Hard Luck Award" will be $50 to the driver officials decide has had the worst racing luck of the night. The Bridge Restaurant of Sidney, Ohio "Hard Charger Award" provides $50 to the driver advancing the most positions from his assigned starting spot in the A-Main. A free tire is also up for grabs from both Hoosier Tire Midwest and Lias Tire/American Racer to the driver finishing the highest on all 4 of each brand of tires.

The official host hotel of the weekend is the Lawrenceburg, Indiana Holiday Inn Express located less than a mile from the track. Rooms for Friday night are $88 and you must ask for the "Buckeye Outlaws" rate. Rooms can be reserved by calling 812-537-2552. There is ample parking for race haulers in the old casino parking lot next door and security will be patrolling the lot. Fans are also welcome to, and encouraged to use the host hotel.

For more information on the weekend you can email the series director at sprinter14@hotmail.com or phone 740-703-3768. You may also log onto the series website at www.buckeyesprints.com
