What do local tracks and or USAC provide in terms of insurance for drivers?

is the short track drivers association insurance any good ?

a lot of health insurance plans exclude auto racing or exclude professional sports

any thoughts or suggestions ?

As good a place as any to start the discussion...

Make sure you know what the insurance situation is with your track and/or sanctioning body. They should be providing you with some kind of coverage. If they don't, find some place else to race. That's really the only reason they charge more for a pit pass than a grandstand ticket, the insurance.

USAC is 7500 deductible, after your primary pays. The deductible is after your out-of-pocket expenses reach 7500 and does not include what other insurance has paid out, so it only really helps in catastrophic situations. There is also a max but I forget what it is, and I believe it differs for regional vs. national license types. When I broke my collarbone last year my expenses didn't get to the point where the USAC coverage kicked in but fortunately I wasn't hurt that bad and I have really good medical.
