3 Palms Speedway

The Charlotte County Airport Authority today accepted the lease bid of Haase Investments, a real estate business based in Indianapolis, for the former Punta Gorda Speedway. James Haase said today that the new name for the track will be '3 Palms Speedway', and that it will be a few months before the track is in operation. “We’re a racing family,” Andrew Haase said. “(Owning a track) is a family goal.” He said he races Legend cars, which are three-eighths scale versions of 1930s and ’40s sedans powered by Yamaha motorcycle motors. His brother is a “drifter” who competes in controlled-slide competitions. And his father is a former Legend racer, Haase said. The Haase family has been looking for a track to acquire for the past two years, he said. Family members have investigated such opportunities in Florida, Alabama and Illinois, he said. Haase said he’s aware of “some bad blood” between the former lessee Kevin Williams and authority staffers. He’s also aware Williams removed fixtures that he claims he owns and left the track in a shambles. However, Haase said his business remains confident it will be able to refurbish the track.

Been by this pavement track a few times. Great location off I-75 between Sarasota and Fort Myers. Good luck to the new owners. I hope they succeed as this part of Florida needs a track for locals and snowbirds to support.

This place was real nice when it was first built raced there in the late 80s early 90s with the tbra ,was very smooth surface with concrete apron of about 8 feet. To bad it's been hacked up by different promotors , hope the new group has the support the need to get races buy the racers and car owners .

Lets hope it stays asphalt don't need anymore dirt tracks here. Love to see USAC bring in midgets and silvercrown cars. Maybe Must See Sprint Cars can come down in their florida swing.

That is heresy, heresy I say. Just like jello, there's always room for a dirt track.
