A HUGE double of winged and non-winged sprints coming up Wednesday, September 17th and Thursday, September 18th at the Terre Haute Action Track.

Wednesday, September 17th the lightning fast World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series returns to The Action Track for the first time since 2003. Steve Kinser only has 3 chances starting Tuesday the 16th at Kokomo to score a World of Outlaws feature win in his home state before he retires after the World Finals in Charlotte.

Thursday, September 18th the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series returns to the Terre Haute Action Track for the kind of racing that makes Terre Haute an absolute MUST SEE track. High speeds, close sliders, and 3 wide racing ALL within the realm of possibility at the Terre Haute Action Track. Dave Darland will seek to add to his all time career win record in USAC Sprint Car competition, but Clauson, Ballou, Windom, Hines, and many more will be looking to pick up a feature win at the famed 1/2 mile on the Vigo County Fairgrounds.

A GREAT set of shows coming up that will be WELL worth checking out.

He's scheduled to run about 40 races in the midwest for Stewart next year.

I see that UMP Modifieds are the support class for both shows.

World of Outlaws, USAC Sprint cars team up to race on back-to-back nights at Action Track

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Before packing away the seat cushions and coolers for the season, there’s a high speed Sprint car doubleheader on the lightning fast Action Track in Terre Haute. On Wednesday, Sept. 17, the World of Outlaws hits the half-mile dirt oval in one of Steve Kinser’s last appearances in Indiana as a full-time driver in the series. On Thursday, Sept. 18, the Jim Hurtubise Classic returns USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars to the famed oval after bad weather forced a postponement last month.

The back-to-back racing brings some of the best drivers in the world to the same track on the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds. There’s great camping right outside the track. Spend a night or two. See the great World of Outlaws and those wing sprint cars fly around the Action Track in their first appearance here since 2006. On the following night, watch the USAC non-wing sprints roar around the track in their first race since the Indiana Sprint Week thriller won by Bryan Clauson in July.

Joey Saldana looks to win again at the Action Track after taking the victory here in 2006. Of course, a big portion of the crowd will be on hand to see Kinser, the Bloomington, Ind., native who is making a victory lap this season after winning 20 championships in the powerhouse tour. Kinser ponders a part-time schedule in 2015, but who knows how many more times the King of the Outlaws will race in the future. Don’t forget your retro gear for one last autograph.

Tickets are $35 for reserved seats, $30 for non-reserved grandstand seats and $20 for infield tickets. Pit passes are $40. Pits open at 2 p.m. while grandstands and infield seating open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. (all times Eastern). Go to Terrehauteactiontrack.net to order tickets.

On Sept. 18, USAC sprint cars return to one of their favorite stops. Already this season, Dave Darland took the checkered flag in the Tony Hulman Classic before Clauson scored the victory in a thrilling feature during Indiana Sprint Week. Later in the summer, Darland surpassed Tom Bigelow with 53 wins to set the record in a USAC sprint car. Clauson is the two-time defending USAC AMSOIL Spring Car National Champion, but he grabbed his first win at the Action Track. Expect a major battle on Indiana soil.

Tickets are $25 for grandstand seating and $15 for infield tickets. Pit passes are $35. Pits open at 3 p.m. with the grandstands and infield open at 4 p.m. and hot laps starting at 6:30 p.m. (all times Eastern).

Modifieds will race for UMP national points on both nights.

The Action Track ticket office can be reached by calling 812-232-4040.

I wonder if any outlaws like haudenschild might take off the wing and run with USAC. Could be interesting.

Compare the two payouts. Would you take the roof off?
