Brady Bacon picked up the largest winged sprint car victory in his career at the finales of the November Sprint Shootout presented by City Vending on Nov. 14 at Cowtown Speedway.

Brady won $7,000 for his effort and held off charges from several drivers throughout the event.

Third row starter Travis Rilat came home in 2nd while Arkansas' Tim Crawley came finished 3rd after starting 4th.

Tony Bruce Jr. recovered to finish 4th after dropping to around 9th midway through the event. He found a groove in the extreme high side of the track with about five laps to go and shot around several cars, but the checkers fell with the leaders in sight.

Wayne Johnson rounded out the top five.

Here are the rest of the A-feature finishers in the sprint cars:

Sam Hafertepe Jr., Andy Shouse, Brian McClelland, Danny Wood, Gary Taylor rounded out the top 10.

Followed by Jonathan Beason, Claud Estes, Kevin Ramey, Kolt Walker, Justin Melton, Michael Lang, John Ricketts, J.P. Bailey, Brian Parker (who flipped after contact with Hafertepe), Eric Baldaccini (who dropped out after contact with Gary Wright), Gary Wright (who flipped after contact with Baldanccini), Jim Moughan, DonnieRay Crawford and Dustin Morgan (who flipped on the first lap).

Both Ryan Hall and Zach Zimmerly (California driver that had bad luck all weekend after winning his 11-car heat race Friday night) finished in 10th in their B-features and received $600 each for missing the A-feature by one spot.

The balance of the races are still underway at the time of writing and will be posted when they become available.

We would like to thank the 225 race teams that supported the event and we hope to see a lot of you at our Holiday foodbank fundraiser on November 28th called the 'Gobbler 90.' Complete event details are at www.CowtownSpeedway.com - bring your canned food goods and receive $3 off adult admission plus you can help those in need during the Holidays when people need it the most.

Congratulations Brady on your big win, also kudos to Mike,Meagan,Leon and all the crew on the Telstar 99. Good job winning 2 big shows this year -- so far!!! How about the Western World double, with and without the wing next week? That would put a big finish on the season.
Sorry we won't be there to cheer you on in Tucson. We'll be cheering for you here in Colorado though. GOOD LUCK

Vern & and Diane Plotts

Tell you what, the track was three lanes of slick on Friday and then super sticky and tricky on Saturday; so Brady got it done on both completely opposite conditions this weekend. Brilliant drive both nights, made no errors and left nothing on the table. Result: $7,400.

Interesting NSS top-5 finishers tidbit, 5 different states represented:

1st, Oklahoma's Brady Bacon, $7400 in NSS weekend winnings

2nd, Texas' Travis Rilat, $5000 in NSS weekend winnings

3rd, Arkansas' Tim Crawley, $3600 in NSS weekend winnings

4th, Kansas' Tony Bruce Jr., $3000 in NSS weekend winnings

5th, Iowa's Wayne Johnson, $2000 in NSS weekend winnings

Great races all 3 nights including the "free" races on Thursday. Those happened to actually be "free" unlike the last couple of "free" races I've been to.

Weather was a little kinder this weekend than last month. A little chilly but at least it was dry. It's raining right now.

Bacon was impressive, as was Travis Rilat, but the drive of the night in my opinion was Tony Bruce Jr. Started 5th but forced to run the outside which included the hole in one and two, he dropped back to around 9th or 10th. Late in the race I noticed him pulling a huge wheelie down the front straight. I wasn't sure he was going to make the turn, but he did. With 5 or less laps left in the race, he found a high line that missed the hole and he was like a rocket after that going all the way to 4th at the finish. A couple of more laps and he might have been 2nd or 3rd.

Also, I haven't confirmed it yet, but Josh Hawkins in the number 80 from Tyler was there. He normally runs in the Southern Thunder Sprint series which is a Racesaver 305 series. I think he was running with his Racesaver motor and while he missed making the feature, he wasn't last and did pass some cars. He also had someone else's top wing on saturday night after getting on his top friday night.

One bad thing happened saturday night. The lights went out with firey debris in the staging lane. They brought in tempory lights but decided to try to repair the regular lights. 2.5 hours later, the lights came back on.The PA system went out when the lights came back on and they never got it working.

Thanks to Palm Harbor Homes and the other sponsors, as well as the track crew that included the folks from the neighboring Kennedale Speedway Park for putting on some great races this weekend.

Glad you enjoyed the weekend Lucky, I was really pleased with the quality of cars and quality of racing in all divisions. And that was our third Cowtown race in a row that had over 200 cars in the pits.

Here's a 9-minute video of the November Sprint Shootout championship feature:

And complete weekend results for all race divisions are posted at:

Up next is Cowtown's Gobbler 90 on November 28th, which will feature $1000 to win features in three classes plus a huge foodbank drive to help those in need this Holiday season.
