Yes, alternative is the best word for this scenario.

This used to happen annually when Jim Ford had Fremont. He ran on the Saturday of the Kings Royal. It’s an alternative for teams that choose not to run the bigger show. The impact to car count was less than 5. Didn’t impact fans cuz the fans that were coming to the KR came. The risk was on Fremont to hope the local fans came out, hence the low turnout of fans at Paragon on Friday.

The take away here is a total of 62 cars ran on a Friday night within an hour of each other. That’s a good thing.

If I was still trying to go to as many races as possible like I did when I first moved to Indiana, I would have just viewed this as a chance to go to 2 races in one night......

I remember one race at New Bremen in the mid to late 60’s, Bud Tinglestad was in all 3 heats and the semi when he finally made the feature.

The field was excellent and there were a few grid squids. USAC is in it's Zenith right now. If you are a weekly racer and you run well at your home track you have a chance. A slim chance, but a chance none the less

Sprint Week, or any USAC show, is not the place to "see if you can run with them" unless you have been running well at your weekly track.

These guys are pro's. They don't have "day jobs" for the most part

Hats off to Carson Garret. Dude is a PRO
