Was surfing around over at brand-x and noticed a post talking about a driver, Mike Houseman, that was involved in a scary looking crash at K'Ville last Sat. night. A few seconds and it could have been have been much worse. This is just a testament of how important a good fire and rescue team is.

I decided to post the link to the thread which has the You Tube vid link on it. I couldn't get an imbedded one to play here.

Saw this on a couple of news shows this morning. One of the anchors commented that it is scary when "gasoline" ignites like that.

His car catches fire as soon as it lands on all fours....9 seconds later there are two guys with fire extinguishers at his car....9 seconds after that, he is out of the car....that is flat out amazing. Every promoter and track owner needs to see this and try to set their standards to these guys. People can't thank the Fire and Rescue team at Knoxville enough for what they do.

Especially ORP...did anyone else notice how long it took anyone to get to any crash there last week? The kid that flipped his midget in the semi sat there for at least a minute before anyone checked on him. In fact, of all the crashes I don't remember the ambulance or EMTs ever being there before the wrecker was.

I think they usually use the NHRA Safety Safari or the IndyCar guys, but they were probably out of town.

The Fire crew did there quickly, (Knoxville Video) but they could have been there even sooner if the last three cars that rolled through the crash scene would have stopped in turn 3 to let the guys get across the track.

The fire and rescue people at Knoxville are simply the best. It is nice to see that at some point during the
Nationals the men and women of the fire and rescue crews are recognized for the GREAT job they do.

Yeah, there isn't a dirt track in existence that is better equipped or better prepared for instant assistance than Knoxville. As many drivers as have been hurt or killed at that crucible, the numbers and the nature of the injuries would have been incalculably higher but for the best safety crew in the business. And they deserve their Nationals curtain call as much as the drivers do each Saturday of the Big Gig.
