Butch Wilkerson drove a rear engined sprinter a few times. He's not one armed though

I ran across this thread looking for something and was thought it was interesting to read all the way through. Bill started this thread a little over 2 years ago, and everybody was cautiously optimistic.

Having spent my early childhood weekends at LPS watching my dad race, that place will always will always be an important part of me. I know that's not unique to me, because I now race with the same kids I used to sit with when Dad started there in 1977.

Bill, did you ever re-organize all of the stats that were provided into a single document? What I would LOVE to see is all of this history displayed at the track.

Orville Yeadon, owned and drove a rear engine "sprint" car, about this time period, it had been built, and attempted a quailfying run at Indy, by a local gas station owner, Orville wasn't one armed tho. I may still have some parts from the original car, a friend of mine bought most of the stuff, that could only be used at Indy, a lot of it was from Mickey Thompsons parts from Indy. Bob I ran into this post, looking for a PB&J sandwich!

My Dad helped Orvel on his cars when he was a teenager, he would stay with family for the summer, that lived down the street. That was in the late 50's or early 60's, unfourtunally he is gone now but his invoulment with Orvel got him started in sprint cars and my Dad got me involved and I hope to get my son involved one day. Just hope Putnamville is still around when that time comes as I grew up there too, and now my son is also growing up there.

You might want to Google ORVILLE YEADON, among other things, he won the FIRST 500 lap race ever held at Eldora, lot of good reading there, some of it by the world famous Marv Fish! Bob!
