in the B main is closer to the way it will be in the A main and have a better idea how to adjust your car for the A main.
My thought is why not run hard enough to transfer during the heat race and not risk running the cost of extra laps or crashing during a b main. There’s risk either way. Also, how many drivers are wired to think complacently? My guess would be not many. And what happens if they rework the track?
