Just for the sake of argument, this site here says it is Parnelli:

Billy Vukovich, about 68 or 69, in Agajanian's dirt car. Indy Mile. Hoosier Hundred.

You are correct. And it is 1969, not '68.

The paint job and number match 1969 and the little diagonal decal under the number on the nose is one from Wagner Lockheed Brake Fluid which was the Agajanian sponsor in 1969.

Who ever it is, and where ever it is, it is one beautiful racecar, excellent photo and a its a dirt track that has a cushion. That boys and girls is what racing should be all about. I know we can't go back to those days, but in my opinion USAC pulling dirt cars off the Championship Trail to appease the new set of indy car owners started the demise of the sport we follow. I still follow Indy Car but it sure is not as great as it was.

All these years later ...and the shots from a distance, from turn 3 looking at them coming down backstretch, they really don't look that much different.

That's why, if I can help it, I never miss Springfield or DuQuoin
