On Lap 1 of the A Main, Logan Jarrett went for a ride in Turn 4. The car spun, bucked up on the rear, flopped around onto the nose, and landed all four wheels down. I am so glad the kid didn't take a worse ride/flip. He just got back, for crying out loud.

Nonetheless, they red flagged it and he got out of the car looking unscathed. Whether the red flag was due to him just getting back and recovering from his summer issue, who knows. I was just glad he was okay.

As for the REST of the feature, Scotty Weir rode the low line all 25 laps. By low, I mean LOW. He wasn't even hanging the rear end out in the corners. Just tip toeing around it. Darland was riding high. Weir was better in Turns 3 & 4 but Darland was better on the East end of the track. Then, about half way through, or so, DD iced Stomp & Steer by dropping down low in 3 & 4 and taking away his line away. Then DD started gapping him a little until lapped traffic came into play. By that time, Weir was starting to catch back up - especially in 1 & 2.

Enter Tyler Courtney, who was running 3rd in Darland's groove - high. He was catching both of them. With about 3 or 4 laps to go, Sunshine pulled a slider on DD in Turn 2 but the end result was he slowed them both down. Weir assumed the point again. On the last lap, Courtney and Darland were wrestling for the spot on both ends of the track (especially 1 & 2) and that let Scotty get away, never leaving the bottom lane all race long.

I don't know if Tyler Courtney drinks beer, but if he does, Scotty owes him a couple.

A tad brisk all night long with a slight breeze coming out of the East. A little drizzle as the Feature ended.

Hats off to the track for getting the show in in a timely manner.

On a sidebar, I was stopped by a local cop in Baroda, Michigan on the way home. He said I rolled through a stop sign - the only one in the town. I probably did.

He then asked me where I was coming from.

"Gas City, Indiana," I said. "I went to a car race there tonight."

He looked at me with an odd face.

"Hmmmm. Never heard of it."

I wanted to continue our banter in the inky blackness of the night, currently being interrupted by the bright flashing blue lights of his patrol car, to to inform him of sprint cars along with promoting the upcoming race at Kokomo Speedway on the 16th, but in lieu of the circumstances, I felt it was better to remain silent and be polite.

Subsequently, he let me off with a warning.

Mike,

Good post! Got to question though that you felt that wind was a breeze and light. The flags behind the grandstands were standing straight out all night long and it was quite cold. Must be those Michigan winters that you are use to the cold weather. Anyhow it was a good race with a great battle for the lead among Darland, Weir and Courtney. Yes, Weir can thank Courtney for pressuring Darland and allowing him to run the bottom to the victory. Glad to hear you got off with just a warning.
