I'm hearing reports from two sources of Gary's passing today. If so it is a bummer of a way to end a weekend. He was a family favorite ever since he started racing USAC.

A racer in every respect. Brave, true to his roots. One can only conjecture how many 500s he could/would have won had not the Syracuse wreck happened.

I'm truly sad to hear of Gary's passing. It was a joy to watch him in sprint cars, and I so wish an Indy win had been in the cards for him. A truly, truly great driver.

RIP...
